Emily Spencer is a poet and the author of East Walnut Hills, winner of the Zone 3 Press Book Award and a finalist for the Ohioana Book Award. Her work has been featured in the Kenyon Review, Poetry Northwest, POETRY, Quarterly West, and elsewhere. She was a Kenyon Review Peter Taylor Teaching Fellow and Boston University Global Writing Fellow. Spencer is currently an assistant professor at Miami University and assistant poetry editor of The Adroit Journal. She earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Spencer’s ancestors were West Africans who survived the Middle Passage and were enslaved in the United States’ South for generations. Contact.
